His musical odyssey began within the confines of his bedroom in the small town of Pontiac, IL, where he meticulously composed and recorded his original creations. A devoted following, nurtured through electrifying performances and TyJon's distinctive songwriting, has formed. TyJon has been playing over 100+ shows live in his one-man band style performance all over Illinois for over 7 years. This has brought him to all sorts of interesting villages, towns, and cites. All of these crazy quests on this pursuit of chasing his dream inspired him to start his podcast 5 years ago called, “The Weekend Warrior Show Recap Podcast”. Here he details the adventurous lifestyle of being a musician. He mostly recaps the most recent shows and projects he’s been up to and every so often has a guest or two show up. Mostly fellow musicians discussing their own journeys, as well as, their upcoming projects. This podcast is available anywhere you stream podcasts.
In an intriguing twist, TyJon Charlie unveiled his inaugural solo endeavor, "Pandemic Relief (LIVE near Normal)," in February 2022. This was a live album meant to be a reflection of the weird world we found ourselves in during the pandemic. Furthermore, this was his first vinyl release. Later that year, he released a full length live album that was recorded in his one-man band style of performance. It was recorded live in Peoria on their local PBS station. For both of these projects there are live videos up on YouTube to correspond with these audio releases, so you can watch them, in addition to listening. Shortly after that TyJon released some live videos on YouTube with The Middle of Nowhere Music that were also released to Spotify.
He has since released 2 solo studio singles. The first being “Will Magic Find Me?”. This song is a broken down acoustic tune that deals with the heavy topics of depression, hope, and the depression of hope. The second studio single he has released is called “Digital Soul”. A song which is a commentary on the current digital society that we have become. It deep dives into dealing with this and the potentiality of the digital dystopia we may be hurtling towards.
TyJon has another live EP do out Sept. 22nd, 2023, which is a live acoustic performance performed over at Bombsight Recording Studio in Bloomington. On this EP he performs his original tunes: “Firebrand”, “Logan”, “Digital Soul”, and “Good Friends”. After that he has two more singles in the queue that are all but ready to release.
